NATURE BOY

My work is about the great human relationship cycle, the cycle of connection/alienation/reconnection with the natural world. A constancy of physical connection with the ambiance of nature is what it is all about for me, so it is what my work has settled down to be.

My work is unadulterated poetry, the poetry of that connection/loss/reconnection. No apologies, no championing, it just is.

Wearing spectacles is the great irony I suppose. me connected with nature, but the artificial eyesight enhancer always being present. In some ways they are part of the symbolism of removal from source, removal from our environment. But they have become in many ways a personal moniker as well. I am identified with my heavy dark rimmed glasses, they are John Hopper and I can go with that.
